Interactive Clothing

I haven't been posting as frequently as I would like because I've been taking summer school classes at SFSU. Wednesday was my last day, then I start back up again at the end of August.
One of my classes, "Rethinking Digital Visual Media", required that we present on a topic of our choosing. Beverly Tang's incredibly interesting blog inspired me, particulary one of her posts about optical camouflage clothing. Yesterday, she posted about wearable light. I decided to present on the topic of interactive clothing. I won't bore anyone with the actual presentation, but the links below provide some great examples of interactive clothing that were actually produced or just in the conceptual stage.
- Professor Steve Mann's WearComp - wearable computer
- Levi's ICD+ - a discontinued line of jackets which preceded the Burton Amp jacket by three years
- Optical Camouflage experiments - interesting visual experiments from the Tachi Lab at the University of Tokyo
- BLU Concepts - Lunar Design's "Carta" jacket doubles as a map
- Infineon concepts - from an MP3 player jacket, interactive dress, and a heart monitor t-shirt
- Textile-based USB cables
- Battle Dress Uniform - wear your own network
- Electric Plaid - textile that changes color when electricity passes through it
Twice-Baked Horseradish Potatoes with Sausage: The Chronicle published one of Jennifer's recipes today, and it sounds great. Just as I was writing this, my sister called to chit chat. She mentioned that she was eating these great potatoes that my dad has made from a recipe in the paper. It just happened to be Jennifer's recipe! Check it out. It's been field tested and approved!
