Eddie Adams

Eddie Adams

We're bombarded with images every day, and it's amazing that a few images manage to catch our eye and record historic moments in time. Unfortunately we're often not aware of the photographers and photojournalists who risk their lives to bring truth to life with their photographs. The photo above may be the most famous photo from the Vietnam War. Eddie Adams earned a Pulitzer Prize for this shot in 1968, and he passed away today after his fight with Lou Gehrig's disease. I have to admit that I didn't know who shot this famous photo. But after reading about Mr. Adam's death, I was reminded that photojournalists aren't celebrated enough.

Newseum.org has two short video clips of an interview where Eddie Adams tells the story behind the Viet Cong Execution photoa and the Vietnam photo that he never shot.
